To promote the Eastern Nile (EN) Joint Multipurpose Program (JMP), inventories containing information on socio-economic issue was made for the three Eastern Nile countries (Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan). Subsequent to the need to compile these relevant country-based information at sub-basin level, three thematic synthesis reports were prepared with relevant info and data organized for the four main Eastern Nile sub-basins: Abay-Blue Nile, Baro-Akobo-Sobat-White Nile, Tekeze-Setit-Atbara, and Main Nile.

This report is the result of an evaluation mission in Ethiopia performed during the phase 1 of the project in February 1995 in Addis Ababa, and of the mission and field control trips performed in the framework of the phase 2 of the study February 24th 1997.

This report presents results of the second phase of the Forestry Master Plan Study for the Abbay Basin. It includes results of low-intensity reconnaissance forest survey of the Basin. As originally envisaged in the Inception Report, the forest inventory activity was designed and conducted to serve the purpose of filling in identified data deficiencies /gaps during documentation review and analysis and is meant to serve as a basis for outlining a development strategy and master plan for the conservation and development of the forestry resources of the Abbay River Basin.

This report is the Executive Summary of the phase 3 Master Plan report for the Abbay River Basin Integrated Development Master Plan study. The objective of this short report is to present briefly the background, the context, the strategy with the main lines of the proposed action plan.

The overall objective of the project has been to develop a demonstration seasonal hydrological forecast system for the Eastern Nile (EN) Basin. The system monitors climate and hydrology in near real-time, and produces climate and hydrological forecasts on a seasonal (out to 6 months) basis aimed at drought forecasting. The system is updated daily, and runs about 1–2 days behind real-time, which is based on the availability and latency of the contributing data products.

The general objective of CSA's Agricultural Sample Survey (AgSS) is to collect basic quantitative information on the countryâ ‚¬ „¢s agricultural that is essential for planning , policy formulation, food security, etc. The specific objectives of Meher Season Survey of area are to estimate the total volume of input used, inputs applied area and production of crops and land use area.

This Hydrological study covers the upper and mid-section of the Baro Mainstream, including also the adjacent upper tributaries of Geba and Sor river, and downstream as far as the Gambela plain. It focuses on integrated water resources management, flood management, power generation and interconnection, irrigation and drainage, watershed management and Environmental Impact Assessments and Social Impact Assessments.

This report a stand-alone volume that gives the reader a complete picture of recommended project and main results of the study.

IWRDM Plan for the Baro-Akobo-Sobat (BAS) sub-basin produced by the Baro-Akobo-Sobat Multi-Purpose Water Resource Development Study, that details a shared vision of the future development of the sub-basin as well as the strategic objectives required to reach this vision. Based on an Options Analysis, it identifies strategic options, and develops strategic actions to achieve the objectives. After detailing the specific actions related to each strategic objective, it discusses an implementation strategy (principles and schedule), carries out a Cost Benefit Analysis of the Plan and recommends an institutional framework (roadmap) to implement the Plan.

Report of the Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment carried out in the Baro-Akobo-Sobat (BAS) sub-basin, as part of the BAS Multi-Purpose Water Resources Development Study. It aims to integrate strategic environmental and social considerations into the Integrated Water Resources Development and Management (IWRDM) Plan being prepared for the BAS sub-basin.
